Editing and Writing Content

I have over a dozen years’ experience editing and writing content for individuals as well as for academic and commercial clients and non-profit organizations, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, the Perception Institute, Vocabulary.com, Visual Thesaurus.com, HealthBase Solutions, and academics at Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin. I’ve also served as director of publications at the American Council on Science and Health.

Editing projects have included novel manuscripts, textbooks, academic articles, master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, op-eds, personal essays, and newsletters.

Writing projects have included book proposals, research-based reports, educational materials, promotional materials, and newsletters. I specialize in making complex ideas accessible and engaging.

Writing Consultations

Over the years, my experience as a teacher, editor, and writer has led people to consult with me on a variety of different writing projects. Clients range from scientists writing op-eds to PhD students sorting out their dissertations to first-time novelists working on manuscripts. Some of my favorite work has been with Columbia University faculty who are part of the OpEd Project’s Public Voices Fellowship.

I am also available for private sessions with students. My fifteen years of teaching experience includes Duke University’s Talent Identification Program, the undergraduate colleges of the City University of New York, and The Writing Center at Columbia University. I have also lead a series of style workshops at Barnard College and directed the small writing center offered for students in the master’s program in Modern and Contemporary Art and the Market at Christie’s Education. I often work with students over the course of an academic year, while others come to me for one or several sessions’ help with an admissions essay for college or graduate school. I work with both native English speakers and students who speak English as a foreign language.
